MindCheck Privacy Policy
MindCheck ("we", "our", or "the app") is a mental health screening application made by 2April. We take your privacy extremely seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
1. Data collection
We do not collect any personal data. MindCheck operates entirely on your device. Specifically:
- No personal information is collected (name, email, phone number, etc.)
- No account creation is required
- Your screening answers and results are never transmitted — they stay on your device
- No analytics, advertising, or user-tracking tools are used
- No cookies are used
- Anonymous crash reports (technical diagnostics only, not linked to you) are collected to fix bugs — see Third-party services below
2. Data storage
All screening results, preferences (language, theme), and app settings are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data:
- Never leaves your device
- Is not backed up to any cloud service by the app
- Is not accessible to other apps
- Can be permanently deleted at any time through Settings > Delete All Data
3. In-app purchases
MindCheck uses Apple's App Store / Google Play in-app purchase systems to unlock screening results. Purchase transactions are processed entirely by Apple/Google. We do not receive, store, or process any payment information.
4. Children's privacy
MindCheck allows parents and guardians to screen children (ages 2–17) using observer-report questionnaires. The parent/guardian operates the app on their own device. No data about the child is collected or transmitted. All results remain on the parent's device.
5. Health information
Screening responses and results are stored locally and are never transmitted. MindCheck does not integrate with Apple HealthKit, Google Health, or any health data platform. Results are not medical diagnoses and are for informational purposes only.
6. Third-party services
MindCheck does not use any advertising or user-tracking services. Third-party interactions are limited to:
- Sentry (crash reporting): Anonymous crash and error diagnostics are sent to Sentry to help us fix bugs and improve stability. These reports contain only technical information (such as device model, OS version, and error stack traces) and are not linked to your identity. Your screening answers and results are never included. Session replay and screenshots are disabled.
- Expo Updates (OTA): Used to deliver app updates. Only app code is downloaded; no user data is sent.
- Apple App Store / Google Play: For in-app purchase processing only.
7. Data retention
Since all data is stored locally on your device, data retention is entirely under your control. You can delete all data at any time from the Settings screen. Uninstalling the app also removes all stored data.
8. GDPR / KVKK compliance
Because MindCheck does not collect, process, or store any personal data on servers, the traditional data protection obligations under GDPR (EU) and KVKK (Turkey) regarding data controllers do not apply in the conventional sense. However, we are committed to the principles of data minimization and user control.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated "last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
